A Tourist Guide for Planning a Trip to Great and Little Exuma

Past Posts

Just West of George Town, The Fish Fry is a collection of little restaurants that cook up some of the best food on the island.

The Fish Fry is low key, authentic and memorable.  It is as much for locals as for tourists and is central to the Exuma experience.

There are more than ten little restaurants serving fresh grilled and fried seafood, meats and other tasty Bahamian dishes.   Charlie's does a great take way pizza.

A few are open for breakfast and lunch.   Most get...

Stocking island is a quintessential part of the Exuma experience.   If you don't have your own boat, you can get a water taxi from the dock in Georgetown, or rent a boat from Minn's in George Town.

Chat and Chill is the beach restaurant that makes a great conch burger and also succulent bbq ribs.  They also do a pig roast at noon on Sundays.   There is a beach volleyball court, hammocks and also fresh made conch salad at a stall on the beach which is incredible.   The beer is magi...

Here is a great video that Matt Erickson posted on Vimeo.

It looks like they stayed at a beach house on The Tropic of Cancer beach, visited Stocking Island and Santana's restaurant and did tours with Four C Adventures and Robert's Island Tours.    It is incredibly well shot and a lot of fun to watch - it captures the feeling of laid back fun so characteristic of Exuma perfectly!

You can get a weekly calendar, which is put out on Mondays, at the Tourist Office (above the Royal Bank in...

Georgetown is the capital of the district of Exuma. It is built around a Main Street that circles Lake Victoria and has a number of restaurants, hotels and other services.    There are a couple of well stocked, if small, grocery stores, a hardware store, several liquor stores, a gas station, 24 hour ATMs and several government offices including the tourist office.   Ferries and water taxis leave from the main dock.  Boat rentals are available at Minn's.
