Things to do in Exuma

Swimming Pigs

Even if you have visited them many times, it is hard not to smile when you see Exuma's famous swimming pigs.

Pig Beach is usually combined with other stops including seeing Iguana beach, Starfish Bay, the Blow Hole and on full day tours you can also see the sunken drug plane, Thunderball Grotto and swimming with nurse sharks and other fun experiences.

Whether you go for a half day or a full day these are about the most fun tours we have found anywhere in the world and your biggest problem will be sorting through all the memorable photos.

The tours generally leave from Barraterre at the Northwest end of Great Exuma but most offer pickup service in Georgetown or hotels along the way.

You can buy individual tickets and go as a group (usually 8 to 12) or book a private boat. (On the private tours, we often do a bit of snorkelling or deep sea fishing along the way. Check with the tour operator as there is usually an extra charge for this.)

Contact information for various tour companies is on this sites directory but some of the tours we have done and loved are below (click on the link to their websites for more information):

Exuma Watersports 242-357-0770

Sugar Adventure 242-524-8093

Off Island Adventures 242-524-0524

No Instagram feed is complete if you don't have at least one photo of the iconic Exuma Swimming Pigs.

Below is a preview of the short film 'When Pigs Swim' by GIV Bahamas. The film won awards at several short film festivals including Haven Award for Best Documentary Short at the Bahamas International Film Festival. Great teaser for any trip to Exuma!
